Further Prayers of Hazrat Inayat Khan

Save me, my Lord, from the earthly passions
and the attachments which blind mankind.
Save me, my Lord, from the temptations
of power, fame, and wealth,
which keep man away from Thy Glorious Vision.
Save me, my Lord, from the souls who are constantly occupied in hurting and harming their fellow-man,
and who take pleasure in the pain of another.
Save me, my Lord, from the evil eye of envy and jealousy,
which falleth upon Thy bountiful Gifts.
Save me, my Lord, from falling into the hands of the playful children of earth,
lest they might use me in their games;
they might play with me and then break me in the end,
as children destroy their toys.
Save me, my Lord, from all manner of injury
that cometh from the bitterness of my adversaries
and from the ignorance of my loving friends.

Beloved Lord, Almighty God!
Through the rays of the sun,
Through the waves of the air,
Through the All-pervading Life in space,
Purify and revivify me, and, I pray,
Heal my body, heart, and soul.

Thou, the Sustainer of our bodies, hearts, and souls,
Bless all that we receive in thankfulness.

A Prayer for Peace

Send Thy peace, O Lord, which is perfect and everlasting, that our souls may radiate peace.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may think, act, and speak harmoniously.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may be contented and thankful for Thy bountiful gifts.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that amidst our worldly strife we may enjoy thy bliss.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may endure all, tolerate all in the thought of thy grace and mercy.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that our lives may become a divine vision, and in Thy light all darkness may vanish.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, our Father and Mother, that we Thy children on earth may all unite in one family.

Healing prayers

O Thou, whose nature is mercy and compassion
and whose Being is all peace
Father, Creator, and Sustainer of our lives
Send on the whole humanity Thy peace
And unite us all in Thy divine harmony.

O Thou, the spirit of our souls,
the Master of our minds
and the controller of our bodies,
we humbly offer ourselves to be used
as the channels of Thy love, light and life
that we may be more able to serve Thee and humanity.

O Thou the light of all souls,
the life of all beings,
the healer of hearts,
all sufficient and all powerful God,
the forgiver of our shortcomings,
free us from all pain and suffering
and make us Thy instruments
that we may in our turn
free others from pain and suffering
and that we may impart to them
Thy light, Thy life, Thy joy and Thy peace.

Prayer for the Dead

O Thou, the Cause and Effect of the whole Universe,
the Source from whence we have come
and the Goal toward which all are bound:
receive this soul who is coming to Thee into Thy parental arms.
May Thy forgiving Glance heal his (her) heart.
Lift him (her) from the denseness of the earth,
surround him (her} with the light of Thine own Spirit.
Raise him (her) up to Heaven, which is his (her) true dwelling place.
We pray Thee grant him (her) the blessing of Thy most exalted Presence.
May his (her) life upon earth become as a dream to his (her) waking soul,
and let his (her) thirsting eyes behold the glorious vision of Thy Sunshine.

Heal his/her spirit, Lord, from all the wounds
that his/her heart has suffered through this life of limitation upon the earth.
Purify his/her heart with Thy divine light
and send upon his/her spirit Thy Mercy, Thy Compassion and Thy Love.

Prayer for the New Year

O Thou, who abidest in our hearts,
most merciful and compassionate God,
Lord of heaven and earth

We forgive others their trespasses
and ask Thy forgiveness of our shortcomings.

We begin this New Year
with pure heart and with clear conscience, with courage and hope.
Help us to fulfil the purpose of our lives under Thy divine guidance.

Prayer for Peace in the World

O Thou, the almighty Sun,
whose light cleareth away all clouds,

We take refuge in Thee,
king of all men, God of all deities, Lord of all angels.

We pray Thee,
dispel the mist of illusion
from the hearts of the nations
and lift their lives
by Thy all-sufficient power.

Pour upon them
Thy limitless love,
Thy ever-shining light,
Thy everlasting life,
Thy heavenly joy
and Thy perfect peace.

Prayer of Invocation

Praise to Thee
who art hidden and yet manifest

Praise to Thy glory, might, power and dominion
to whom belong all majesty and greatness
who art the source of all things.

Praise to Thee, King of kings,
ruler of all creation,
who controlleth all things
and hast power over all things.

Thou who wast from the beginning
and art without end
for ever and for ever
who art eternal
above all
beyond all.

O God
lord and ruler over angels and mankind.
